Lions service is defined by the needs in our communities. It comes in all shapes and sizes!

Some of our many services…

Youth

Lions help improve access to quality education, vital health services, and positive youth development for young people around the world. Whether it’s through youth empowerment initiatives, positive alternative activities, or by using evidence based curriculum - Lions are committed to helping raise the next generation of community leaders. Lions Quest, a signature youth education program, is a social emotional learning curriculum which gives students the skills to navigate life and prevent bullying and substance abuse.

Vision

We serve to prevent avoidable blindness and improve quality of life for people who are blind and visually impaired. Ever since Helen Keller inspired us to champion the cause in 1925, we’ve served and advocated as knights of the blind. Nearly a century later, this long-standing mission continues unhindered, and we remain committed to continuing this mission into our next century of service.

Lions Clubs International and the Lions of Delaware support environmental programs.

Environment

The earth sustains human life. We’ve seen how our stewardship of natural resources can improve quality of life and increase engagement in our local communities. Our environment is more than a background: it’s our home. And we’re committed to caring for it. Lions and Leos serve to strengthen the relationship between the community and its environment. Whether it’s through planting trees, recycling plastic, or conducting costal and community clean ups, Lions take an active role in protecting our environment.

Hunger

We serve to ensure that all community members have access to sufficient and nutritious foods. We see how the global hunger and nutrition crisis is negatively impacting our local communities, and believe true community improvement depends on its members thriving.

Humanitarian

Humanitarian spirit is at the core of every Lion. Working to address the needs of at-risk, vulnerable populations and carry out humanitarian service addressing unmet health and human needs is part of every Delaware Lions club’s service. Lions of Delaware collect and distribute supplies for unhoused or disadvantaged people, build ramps into the homes of disabled individuals, and maintain storehouses of medical equipment that they distribute upon request at no charge. They visit elders in retirement homes, provide activity kits for hospitalized children, and write cards and letters to veterans. Through our humanitarian efforts we continue to help enhance people’s day-to-day lives and emotional well-being

Disaster Relief

Whenever and wherever disaster strikes, Lions are often among the first to offer aid. LCIF is ready to support their efforts with funding assistance through global disaster relief programs. That means that when a hurricane, flood, tornado or other natural disaster strikes Delaware, an emergency relief grant of $10,000 can be granted in 24 hours to the Lions club closest to the impact. 100% of those funds must be distributed to the community. Delaware Lions are proud to have delivered emergency funds in this way, and have also raised funds and supplies locally to help victims of fires, floods, and tornadoes.
